Operations Engineer - Messaging

For one of the leading IT Company based out of Bangalore

Mandatory: Messaging, Active Directory, exchange 2000/2003/2007/2010 administration, BlackBerry 5.0 Server management, Symantec Enterprise Vault 8.0, MCSE – Exchange 2003 certification

Job Role Description:

·         Work in shifts 24x7, typically rotating weekly

·         Ensure escalations local support /service Desk and cross team service providers are handled well and on time (handling Incident and Events as per agreed SLA P1, P2 etc).

·         Responsible for  solving complex issues on EV,BES ,Exchange and OCS through  Incident and event management

·         Incident management on Messaging systems (server and client )

·         Servers located in 13 sites and  messaging users spread across 50 locations -24/7

·         To document WINS/SOP/Documents/How to's

·         To Build and maintain Knowledge Base for the NOC

·         Will be a member of Service Restoration Team (SRT) during an emergency situation

·         Testing and implementing application related patches and service packs

·         Responsible for smooth operations as a team player

·         Use monitoring tools such as HP SIM, Microsoft MOM, Nagios and other SNMP tools such as CiscoWorks, MRTG, Solarwinds to review alerts about the infrastructure and take corrective actions

·         Remotely connect to servers, applications, network devices to troubleshoot faults or handle incidents

·         Use ticket tracking software to record all work activity, timesheet etc, following defined processes based on ITIL methodology

·         Communicate via phone and/or Email, follow-up with global teams in Europe, America, Asia & Japan and resolve incidents

·         Troubleshoot every case and  check the opportunity to restore the service or give an acceptable workaround in order to meet the immediate business needs

·         Understand the current changes in technologies and update knowledge by referring  vendor documents and white papers

·         If the incident or ticket cannot be solved immediately, follow escalation procedure and assign the tickets to the appropriate teams and coordinate for resolution

·         Handle calls from Global Helpdesk, Server and application support teams and provide accurate information for quick restoration of service

·         Ensure timely creation of necessary reports or documentation related to the job or updates the knowledge base.

·         Take up activities, use lab infrastructure for self study and improvement, present to other team members

·         Be a good team player and handle pressures of 24x7 operations job

Required IT Skills

·         Minimum qualification B.E / B.Tech / Diploma (Full Time)/any equivalent degrees

·         MCSE – Exchange 2003 certification

·         Knowledge of call logging system (BMC Remedy, Peregrine, etc.)

·         Advance level knowledge in exchange 2000/2003/2007/2010 administration and troubleshooting

·         Active directory administration and advanced troubleshooting skills

·         AD LDAD related tools like LDIFDE and CSVDE

·         Exchange 2003 disaster recovery planning and implementation

·         Exchange 2003 migration and related issues

·         Exchange 2003 Outlook Web access

·         Good knowledge in troubleshooting SMTP related issues

·         Familiar with Public folder related troubleshooting and administration

·         Windows 2003 OS troubleshooting

·         Understanding of Mobile Messaging technologies like Blackberry, Windows Mobile

·         Understanding of Data retention, archiving and recovery

·         Understanding of server hardware technologies, SAN, NAS

·         OCS setup , troubleshooting and support

Nice to have

·         Experience in troubleshooting and administrating Symantec Enterprise Vault 8.0

·         Experience in BlackBerry 5 .0 Server management

·         Experience in storage

·         Scripting technologies like WMI, LDAP, MAPI, and CDO

·         Experience in MS SQL and SQL scripts

·         Experience in MOM , Boxtone (understanding thresholds for Messaging)

·         Problem  Management Skills
