Company’s engineering team builds the technology platform that powers our customer’s shopping experience and enables the smooth flow of products from suppliers to our customer’s doorsteps. We work on areas such as building massive-scale web-applications, engaging user-interfaces, big-data analytics, mobile apps, workflow systems, inventory-management etc. We are a small technology team where each individual has a huge impact. Responsibilities
1. Technical Guidance: You will provide technical leadership to a team of excellent software engineers; this requires that you have the technical depth to make complex design decisions and the hands-on ability to lead by example.
2. Execution and Delivery: You will be expected to instill and follow good software development practices and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products. You should be familiar with agile practices as well as be able to adapt these to the needs of the business, with a constant focus on product quality.
3. Team management: You will be responsible for hiring and mentoring your team; helping individuals grow in their careers, having constant dialogue about their aspirations and sharing prompt, clear and actionable feedback about performance.
4. Collaboration: Collaborating closely with others in the organization to ensure that the products we build will delight our customers; this includes working closely with product managers, designers, engineering leaders, and stakeholders in other departments.
5. Leadership: As a company growing at high speed, you will be expected to lead the team through uncertainties and changes in scale and organization. Often, requirements will be fuzzy, and you will be expected to bring clarity to such situations.
Requirements
For Mobile Team:
• Excellent knowledge on how web services and APIs work. (HTTP/JSON/REST)
• Comfortably work with the language of the platform - Java for Android.
• Should be able to layout views, make network calls and understand the overall hierarchy and flow of how apps work.
• Knowledge of the platform’s SDK, good practices and interface guidelines.
• Debugging and troubleshooting problems at the various layers in the app.
• Experience with third party libraries and APIs.
• Having an open source app on Github (or other) is a huge plus.
• Having shipped an app and experience with the platform’s store is a plus.
• Should appreciate and deeply care about the user’s experience and design of the app.
1. Leadership skills
Experience leading teams of engineers to deliver great software products. Proven ability to build a product from scratch. Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to build and mentor a strong team. Ability to push through despite road-blocks and resource constraints.
2. Technical depth
You have the strong technical competence required to gain credibility. Ability to architect, design and code yourself. Technical experience in building and operating web-based applications. Deep understanding of all layers of the web-stack work (from the client interface to the database.) Knowledge of multiple technology stacks/languages/tools and their pros/cons.
3. Execution ability
Focus on delivering products in a timely manner with high quality. Familiarity with multiple software development practices and tools, and the proven ability to adapt, champion and institute good practices and tools.
4. You must have a degree in Computer Science or related field. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, concurrency and fundamentals of computer-science.
5. We also highly value experience working in a startup or smaller product-focused organization, contributions to open-source, tech blogs or tech forums.
