Altiris Systems Administrator

Job Title/SERVICES:  Altiris Systems Administrator

Working as a member of the Global Client Management team, this individual is responsible for the support of the Altiris infrastructure. This individual will demonstrate good partnering and cross-functional teaming skills with peers.

Job Summary/ TASKS: 

·         Check system logs for errors and take necessary actions to restore normal service (troubleshooting, escalation to system owner/local system admins,…)

·         File change requests to the Change Advisory Board following the global change management process.

·         Implement agreed configuration changes to the Altiris Notification and/or Deployment servers in the infrastructure, as approved by the Altiris Operations Team.

·         Check-in, test & deploy Microsoft security patches on client systems worldwide

·         Check-in, test & deploy global client application packages on client systems worldwide.

·         Provide troubleshooting & technical support following the UCB incident management process

·         Provide support for validation activities by running required protocols (Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification,…) on the Altiris infrastructure.

·         Maintain system documentation accurate at all times.

·         Open support calls with Altiris Premium Support if required.

·         Provide regular reporting on infrastructure status: agents, security patches, applications deployed,…

·         Provide training/coaching to other IT staff by means of web conferencing

·         Attend Altiris Operations meetings

·         Design Altiris Reports based on customer requirements

Job Qualifications: /RESOURCE PROFILE DESCRIPTION

·         University degree is required with minimum of 3 years experience or equivalent by experience.

·         Understanding of support best practices such as ITIL / Six SIGMA / Quality methodology such as Crosby.

·         2-3 years of direct work experience with Altiris Client Management Suite including Notification Server working on Software delivery, Patch Management and Reporting.

·         Altiris Deployment Server and tools such as PC Transplant

·         Altiris certifications on Client Management 7 is required (Altiris Client Management Suite 7.0 Core Administration and Symantec Management Platform 7.0 Administration with Notification Server).

·         Good understanding and knowledge of Windows XP Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise, 2003/2008 Server, MS SQL 2000/2005.

·         Experience with InstallShield Studio and Wise Package Studio is a plus.

·         Experienced at designing reports using MS Query language on SQL database in and outside of Altiris console (Excel).

·         Good time management skills to handle multiple complex support tickets simultaneously.

·         Excellent communications and presentation skills and candidates must have the ability to communicate with internal/external customers, vendors, management etc. in both formal and informal situations.

·         Strong interpersonal skills are needed to team well with peers, customers, project managers, and vendors.

·         Able and used to work in a multi-cultural, "virtual team" environment but also self-driving.

During the first month of work, a detailed list of KPIs will be defined in collaboration along the following lines:

·         Delivering projects within quality targets

·         Delivering on schedule

·         Stick to the defined methodology
