Senior Hardware Design Engineer

For a leading company in information technology and consulting services, based out of Bangalore

Experience: 7 – 15 years

Required Skills:

·         Domain experience in railway, other transportation or safety critical industrial automation verticals.

·         High-speed FPGA design using VHDL (Xilinx and/or Altera) and performing simulations in ModelSim.

·         Digital FPGA filter design experience and high-speed communications protocols (SFPDP, Ethernet, etc), including MATLAB simulation.

·         Proven experience in hardware board design with various micro-controller/Processor/Power-Pc architectures.

·         Proven experience in analysis of various design criteria like timing, thermal, worst-case, and AC / DC analysis.

·         Proven experience of working to organizational and industry specific standards such as ISO, CMM, CENELEC, IE61508.

·         Excellent business skills such as analytical and decision making, leadership (coaching and technical guidance), self-initiation and motivation, multi-cultural and cross-functional team playing, communication (listening, analyzing and interpreting), and time management.

Responsibilities:

·         Works on problems of multi-functional scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.  Tasks are normally associated with

·         Taking technical and / or team lead roles on projects, and providing coaching and technical guidance during product design and implementation.

·         Authoring functional specification or working with other engineers to provide guidance in creating functional specifications.

·         Participating and leading brainstorming discussions to arrive at optimal designs.

·         Working with architects and leads in other functional areas of the R&D teams to cooperate on the complete system design and influence design decisions.

·         Providing feedback to other engineers for performing analysis of systems configurations, and evaluating problems relative to system design and magnitude of coding relative to hardware and software capabilities planned for design.

·         Designing, programming or modifying software, hardware or applications of high complexity, with involvement at all stages, from the initial concept through the detailed design and release to manufacturing and customers, per established Company standards.

·         Performing RTL design, synthesis, timing closure and analog behavior modeling for next generation mixed-signal.

·         Independently resolving all levels of bugs and problems in several areas and designing complete fixes for systems problems, including managing multiple product bug lists, as necessary.

·         Preparing, analyzing and evaluating diagnostic programs to ensure correct functionality of operational requirements, including optimizing implementation for better performance and maintenance.

·         Establishing the testing strategy and methodology by applying testing knowledge effectively with more focus on the system and test quality, and automating the test processes to help test more efficiently.

·         Understanding integration issues and heterogeneity of products, and applying knowledge to reviewing integration test scripts, analyzing test results and preparing reports summarizing the activities performed.

·         Working with others to complete analysis, evaluations and design alternatives and to implement configuration management process improvements.

·         Providing training on various internal systems and producing reports critical to the engineering-to- manufacturing interface processes.

·         Drives quality initiatives by taking responsibility for the quality of all work performed, including work processes, methodologies and output.  Sets up guidelines for the quality processes, if required.
