Summary:
Efficient and effective management of the Microsoft SQL Server environment in Corporate IT is a key component to safeguarding and providing access to key information for users and Corporate IT systems. As the demand for mission critical business and BI systems running on SQL Server increases, a full-time DBA is essential to maintaining a reliable and stable environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Leads the management, monitoring, and administration of the Corporate IT SQL Server infrastructure including:
o SQL Server 2005/2008/R2
o SQL Server Reporting Services 2005/2008/R2
o SQL Server Analysis Services 2008/R2
o SQL Server Integration Services 2008/R2
· Provides mentoring and guidance to development staff on effective database design practices
· Leads performance analysis and improvement activities
o Designs and promotes proactive monitoring strategies for capacity and performance
o SSRS report utilization and performance
o DB capacity and performance including long-running query detection and other proactive database management tasks
o SSIS execution and efficiency
· Designs and implements reusable SSIS packages for maintenance purposes
· Designs and implement complex security processes for DB, SSRS, and SSAS access control
· Advises on LUN architecture to optimize disk IO
· Designs and implements appropriate backup and restore activities for all aspects of SQL Server infrastructure
· Documents configuration & implementation details, including plans, projections, and diagrams for various levels of technical staff
Qualifications/Work Experience:
− 4 to 6 years experience in IT (or equivalent) required; Strong knowledge of good IT practices required
− Exceptional analytical ability required
− Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication required
− Exceptional experience with SQL DB services, SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS 2005/2008
− Experience with policy based management and the data collection/management data warehouse features in SQL Server 2008
− Ability to document environments and processes
− Experience in consistent, proactive, and creative process improvements
− Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to modify communication style and content to fit various technical audiences. This also includes the ability to determine from colleagues the communication style/level best suited to a situation.
− Ability to work effectively in a very independent environment, balancing multiple priorities and keeping stakeholders apprised of status and issues.
