This person will be responsible for:
- Reviewing all requests for new components to ensure that the part can satisfy the requirements and that any existing parts cannot.
- Performing component footprint and symbol creation to design, manufacturing, and industry standards as well as maintains symbol and footprint libraries.
- Maintaining the Approved Parts List and assigns new inventory part numbers
a. Establishing standard titles for components.
b. Maintaining current descriptions to the standard format.
c. Flagging obsolete parts.
d. Consolidating duplicate parts and reduces inventory.
e. Selecting alternate sources of supply.
f. Approving all changes, additions, deletions.
g. Assisting design engineers in the selection of parts that best fit their requirements including alternate sources, End of Life (EOL) evaluations and technical/application notes information.
h. Supporting proper selection of component generic or specific classification
i. Maintaining approved vendor and manufacturer lists
j. Maintaining current component datasheets and repository and creates custom datasheets where applicable.
k. Supporting component Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) documentation and control
- Assisting in solving production or quality related component issues. Finds suitable replacement parts and identifies root causes of issues.
- Supporting sourcing to locate old, obsolete or hard to procure parts when the buyers cannot find parts needed for production.
- Assisting in process changes/upgrades for component engineering tools.
- Providing RoHS support. Reviews existing parts and identifies RoHS equivalent parts.
- Performing Value Engineering (cost reduction) initiatives.
- Participating in design reviews for the purpose of component selection and standardization.
- Coordinating ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) written against component specifications.
Skill Set
- Demonstrated ability to work with Technology and Manufacturing teams to deliver innovative Component Engineering process improvements.
- Knowledge of various Electronic components, Interpretation of manufacturer datasheets, Part Change Notifications.
- Experience in BOM Management.
- Knowledge of IPC, IEC standards.
- Familiarity with electronic component manufacturing processes and life cycle of Components.
- RoHS/WEE Regulations: Should be able to carry RoHS review of existing parts and identify ROHS equivalent.
- Experience with PCB CAD tools such as Orcad and PADS.
- Must have excellent communications(verbal and written), scheduling, organizational skills, and high enthusiasm.
Additional
- Exp in Board Assembling and Testing.
- Should be able to perform DFM/DFT activities on Printed Circuit Boards
- Working knowledge of regulatory approval such as UL, FCC..etc
